The Shambles perform at “Free Fridays” Friday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. The Shambles are a rock ‘n’ roll dance band that play an eclectic mix of classic rock, contemporary blues, cosmic country music and Shambles dance party music that includes songs from Steely Dan, as well as Santana, Gram Parsons, Grateful Dead, Amy Winehouse, Beth Hart, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Little Feat, Stevie Wonder and Talking Heads.
The Shambles are comprised of Connie Brashear (lead vocals), David Cook (keyboards, pedal steel, vocals), Eric Diamond (lead guitar), Conor Galligan (drums), Mike Fender (bass, vocals), Mitchell Jim (percussion, backing vocals), Celeste Shitama (backing vocals, percussion) and Hoch Shitama (lead vocals, rhythm guitar).
The Shambles is one of the select “Free Fridays” classic rock concerts that is sponsored by classic rock radio station WIND-FM (92.5, 95.5, 107.9).
The 2016 “Free Fridays” concert series is produced by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and funded in part by grants from Visit Gainesville and Culture Builds Florida. The concerts play each Friday night this year from Friday, May 6 through Friday, Oct. 21 from 8-10 p.m. at the Bo Diddley Plaza, at 111 E. University Ave. in downtown Gainesville.
