Offering summer camp options for everyone!

Recreation Summer Camps

Six, one-week sessions: Monday, June 21 to July, 30. No camp on Monday, July 5.

New this year are registration dates:
City residents only: Monday, April 12, online, in-person, or by phone
Resident & non-resident: Monday, April 26, online, in-person, or by phone
Registration closes the Friday before camp regardless of the enrollment status. If camp is filled, you may sign up for our waiting list. Under-registered sessions may be canceled with a full refund.

Four convenient camp locations for children entering grades 1 through 5, and T.B. McPherson Recreation Center, for teens entering grades 6 through 8. Recreation summer camps are affordable, safe and convenient.

Camp Dates and Times: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 6p.m.

Earth Academy Day Camp:

Earth Academy Day Camp
awakens your child’s innate curiosity while encouraging an environmental ethic and appreciation of the natural world!

City residents: Monday, April 19 at 9 a.m. online or by phone 352-334-5067
Community Builders* and city residents: Monday, April 26 at 9 a.m. online or by phone (*Community builders must register by phone)
Resident & non-resident: Monday, May 3 at 9 a.m. online or by phone 352-334-5067.

 We the People Theater Pop-up Theater Camp

An acting retreat for students age 10-18.
One, two-week session from Monday, July 19-Friday, July 30, held at the Historic Thomas Center. Classes offered in scene study, movement, improv, yoga and playwriting.

Camp hours: Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A two-week theater intensive for young actors. The program taught by theater professionals culminates in a series of peer education workshops and a performance of a Shakespearean work. Past productions include "Romeo and Juliet" and "Julius Caesar." Pop Up Theater Camp has had the great fortune to partner with the City of Gainesville on this performing arts camp. In addition to rehearsing for camp productions, the campers spend their days taking classes in movement, scene study, stagecraft speech, and improv. The camp fees are offered on a sliding scale.
