City Opens Two Computer Labs to Support Remote Learning

The City of Gainesville has opened computer labs at two of its facilities complete with new laptops and Wi-Fi to support remote learning for school-aged children and parents. Up to 20 Chromebooks are available at each location for use on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations or registrations are required. 


Where: Porters Community Center, 512 SW 6th Avenue, Gainesville 
Eastside Recreation Center, 2841 E. University Avenue, Gainesville

When:   7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays;
7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesdays

More:
  • Students may bring personal devices to connect to the Wi-Fi  network.
  • Students wishing to use the lab or connect to the Wi-Fi  must have a waiver on file signed by a parent or legal guardian. 
  • All students under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. 
  • Individuals are required to wear masks and practice safe social distancing.  
  • No childcare services nor individual supervision of children is provided. 
  • No meals are provided.

To help ensure the health and safety of all neighbors, City staff members will use scanners to measure the temperatures of individuals and will not allow entry to those with temperatures 100.4° F or higher.
