Special Event Additional Support (SEAS) Grant Application for Cultural Non-Profit Organizations Extended to May 1


Understanding the challenges presented by measures being taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department has extended the deadline for accepting Special Event Additional Support (SEAS) Grant applications for Fiscal Year 2021 grant period to Friday, May 1.

The purpose of the Special Event Additional Support grant is to provide support to non-profit organizations for outdoor community events through in-kind services from the City of Gainesville.  Eligible areas for support are police security, traffic engineering (barricades and signs), parks personnel and solid waste disposal.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Organizations must demonstrate non-profit status through certification from the State of Florida or 501(c)(3) or (c)(4) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Organizations and events must be based within the city limits of Gainesville, Florida
  • The event must occur outdoors on public property, require services from 2 or more city departments and be free and open to the general public.
  • Purely religious events are not eligible for in-kind/support services.

The grant is awarded for a one-year funding period, Oct. 1, 2020- Sept. 30, 2021.  The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2020
