New Summer Youth Golf Camps at Ironwood Begin in June

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is excited to announce new Summer Youth Golf Camps at Ironwood Golf Course. The four-day camps are coed and are for kids age 6-17. Junior golfers will have fun while learning the fundamentals of the game of golf and swing techniques that will help campers make a whole bunch of birdies!

Each day begins at 9 a.m. with instruction and will wrap-up at 3:30 p.m. with on-course playing. Golfers who have their own clubs are encouraged to bring them each day, but if participants don’t have their own equipment, it will be provided by Ironwood. Campers may also bring their own lunch each day or they can purchase lunch at the golf course. Ironwood offers pizza, hot dogs or cold cut sandwiches with chips and a drink for $5. Campers should also bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hats, etc... daily.

There are three different camp sessions to choose from and registration is limited to the first 14 juniors per session. While at camp, golfers will learn the proper swing for all the different golf shots needed (driver, iron, putter). Instructors will also teach swing drills and proper practice techniques, knowledge of basic USGA rules and etiquette, how to develop a winning attitude on the course, as well as on-course scenarios and instruction.

Camp dates are: June 24-27, July 15-18 and Aug. 12-15. Registration is only $99! Prizes will be awarded on the Friday of each session, as well as a free end-of-the-session lunch. Register on site at Ironwood Golf Course, 2100 NE 39th Ave. If you have additional questions, please call 352-334-3120.
