Two Remote Learning Labs Available for Students
Beginning Monday, Oct. 19, the City of Gainesville is opening Porters Community Center (512 SW Second Ter.) and the Eastside Recreation Center (2841 E. University Ave.) for remote learning support Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Labs are open to school-aged children and their parents/guardian only.
Up to 20 Chromebooks are available at each location, or students may bring their own devices to connect to the local network. Computer lab or internet use is available on a first come, first served basis. All students using the lab or internet must have a waiver on file signed by their parents or legal guardian.
Students age 12 and up may come and go without adult supervision, but students under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a legal guardian. This is not a childcare program, and no reservations or registration is required. Each facility will have supervision for the facility, but no childcare or individual supervision of the children will be provided. No meals will be provided.
Users must comply with COVID-19 measures such as wearing a mask, social distancing and temperature checks to enter.
