Community leaders join forces to raise awareness of COVID-19 precautions
In advance of the July 4th weekend, the City of Gainesville, Alachua County, the University of Florida and Santa Fe College leaders advise everyone to wear masks in public settings and to be vigilant in their hygiene and social distancing practices.
With recent increases in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Alachua County, community leaders are banding together to fight the global pandemic and collectively commit to promote a culture of health and safety.
“This pathogen spreads person to person,” said Paul Myers, director of the State Department of Health in Alachua County. “We have traced many cases directly to parties where people are in close contact for long periods, drinking and not wearing masks.”
