City Invites Public Comment for Infrastructure Improvement Applications
The Public Works Department is soliciting feedback from residents to include in two applications for infrastructure improvement funding from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO).
The first application for $512,073 includes plans to repair damage and provide greater structural integrity against erosion to creek beds at Tumblin Creek. The second application for $718,063 includes plans to minimize future flooding in the Duval Heights neighborhood and to acquire easements from property owners for access to the new storm sewer. The topics are expected to be listed on the agenda of the June 18 City Commission meeting. The applications are due by June 30.

The City of Gainesville will respond to all written correspondence received. Email comments must be received by the deadline for consideration.
The DEO allocated more than $100 million in a second round of funding through the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery Program for projects that address damage Hurricane Irma to low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. The application guide is available online.
