Special Event Additional Support Applications Available for Cultural Non-Profit Organizations


The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is accepting applications Special Event Additional Support grants for the Fiscal Year 2021. Each grant is awarded for a one-year funding period beginning Oct. 1, 2020 and ending Sept. 30, 2021. The new application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2020.

The purpose of the Special Event Additional Support Grant is to provide support to non-profit organizations for outdoor community events through in-kind services from the City of Gainesville. Eligible areas for support are police security, traffic engineering (barricades and signs), parks personnel and solid waste disposal.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Organizations must demonstrate non-profit status through certification from the State of Florida or 501(c)(3) or (c)(4) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
  • Organizations and events must be based within the city limits of Gainesville, Florida.
  • The event must occur outdoors on public property, require services from two or more city departments, and be free and open to the general public.
  • Purely religious events are not eligible for in-kind/support services.
