A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix at “Free Fridays” Concert Series Oct. 11

The “Free Fridays” Concert Series presents Michael Derry and Friends, who play a tribute to the music of Jimi Hendrix at Bo Diddley Plaza Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame called Hendrix, "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music." His mainstream career spanned only four years, but his proficiency and experimental style on the electric guitar earned him the reputation as one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time.

Michael Derry says, “His music defied category. Hendrix said, ‘My music isn't pop, it's me. My guitar is my notes, regardless of where they came from. I have not set out to produce a commercial sound...’ And he didn't. In this performance, we hope to share a glimmer of his extraordinary talents and his fun.”

Michael Derry (guitar/vocals) is joined by Paco (guitar/vocals), Lothar Weinmann (guitar/vocals), Ron Thomas (bass/vocals) and Rob Thornton (drums)

The Hendrix tribute concert is one of the select “Free Fridays” classic rock concerts that are sponsored by classic rock radio station WIND-FM (92.5, 95.5, 107.9).
