Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Meeting Scheduled to Gather Public Input
The City of Gainesville’s Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) is holding the first of a series of meetings to discuss and gather public input regarding the development of the Incentives and Recommendations Report (IRR) on Tuesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at the Gainesville/Alachua County Senior Center (5701 NW 34th Blvd).
The AHAC consists of city residents who have volunteered to serve and been appointed by the City Commission. The State of Florida requires local jurisdictions that receive State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Program funds to form an AHAC. The primary purpose of the AHAC is to develop an IRR that examines the regulations, fees, policies and procedures that impact the costs of developing housing within the area. The city uses SHIP funds for several affordable housing programs (including home repair, first time home buyer down payment assistance and others) for low-income residents.
