Applications for Fire Assessment Programs Due May 1, 2018


The City of Gainesville offers a variety of programs to adjust the assessments for fire services. Applications for the programs for the 2018-2019 fiscal year are due by May 1, 2018.

The city offers two Hardship Assistance Programs, one for low-income senior citizens age 65 and over, and another for low-income citizens. New applications must be submitted each year that the program is available. Senior applicants that were previously approved will need to only fill out the renewal form.

The Application for Mobile Home or Recreational Vehicle Park Vacancy Adjustment is available to each owner of mobile home or recreational vehicle parks. Park owners have the opportunity to demonstrate the vacancy rate in space occupancy within their property and receive a vacancy adjustment to the fire assessment.

Additionally, applications for the City of Gainesville Special Assessment for Fire Services 2018 Fire Flow Mitigation (sprinklers) Credit Program are available. Gainesville offers a Fire Flow Mitigation Credit to eligible city property owners whose buildings are subject to the city fire services special assessment. Property owners must provide proof of proper operation and maintenance annually to receive credit. To meet this requirement, property owners must include a copy of the invoice from their last sprinkler inspection conducted within the previous 12 month period of the May 1, 2018 application due date. Applicants will not receive individual replies unless there is a question about the application or invoice. A list of approved and rejected applications will be posted at within 30 days of the application due date.
