The Solid Waste Division’s Curbside Collection service does not pick up hazardous waste. Improper disposal of household hazardous waste can cause problems for the entire community. Collectively, these materials can contaminate our water supply and the air we breathe if they are not disposed of safely.
However, e-scrap (electronic waste) collection has been implemented at curbside inside the city limits of Gainesville. The procedure will be the same as white goods by calling 334-2330 to schedule for a Friday pick-up. For a list of acceptable e-scrap as well as on-line scheduling click here.
If you do not have curbside service you may take your e-scrap to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, 5125 NE 63 Ave or any of the Alachua County Rural Collection Centers (see below).
All household hazardous waste may be taken to:
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center: 352-334-0440
Alachua County’s Rural Collection Centers: 352-338-3233
Check out the A-Z Recycling Source for a more detailed list of hazardous waste.
