Aquatics

The Aquatics division encourages participation through our swimming programs, special events and activities.  We will provide participants with the opportunity to enjoy water-related activities that promote safe swimming, water safety, healthy competition, sportsmanship and fun at our public swimming pools and facilities.  Our highly trained staff is committed to conducting safe, fun and quality activities. Participants and patrons will be guided through wholesome experiences at our well-maintained swimming pools and facilities.

H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Municipal Pool  

6:00am-9:00am      Monday - Friday      Lap Swim Only

3:00pm-7:00pm      Monday - Friday      Open Swim

11:00am - 6:00pm      Saturdays      Open Swim

12:00pm - 6:00pm      Sundays      Open Swim 

Andrew Mickle Municipal Pool 

3:00pm-6:00pm      Monday - Friday      Open Swim

1:00pm - 5:00pm      Saturdays      Open Swim

CLOSED  -   Sundays      

3:00pm-6:00pm      LABOR DAY (9/1/08)      Open Swim

Mickle Pool will close for the season after Labor Day!!

Swim Lesson Levels
Interested in signing up your children for swim lessons but you are unsure as to what level they are? We've provided the guidelines for Aqua Babies through Level 4 for you to review. If your child is above Level 4 we recommend they join our swim team. You can always contact our Administrative Office at 352-334-5067 for additional assistance. 2008 Biathlon Series

The City of Gainesville will be hosting the 2008 Biathlon Series at Westside and Northeast Pools.  There will be a total of 6 races, three at each pool site.  The Biathlon consists of a 5k run through the community followed by an 800m swim at the pool.  Points will be awarded to men and women of each age group.  Trophies will be awarded at the conclusion of the Series to the top three men and top three women in each age group.  You must participate in at least three biathlons to be eligible for an award.

Dog Days of Summer
This is a program still in the making but here's a little insight....sometime during the summer possibly toward the end of the pool season, the City will open one of its swimming pools for use by dogs.   Stay tuned for more details................
