Are you currently or have you recently participated in one of our programs or services?  We are looking for your help in evaluating and improving our division.  Please visit one of our recreation centers to pick up a survey or download one from our camps and programs webpage.

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is an advocate of the importance of thriving, local park systems, the opportunity for all citizens to lead healthy, active lifestyles, and the preservation of great community places. Please visit our Latest News and Events page or click a division below to see what our Department has to offer!

Recreation Centers

The Recreation Divison conducts special event programs for youth including Track and Field Events, Santa's Calling and Easter, Thanksgiving, and Halloween festivities.  We coordinate two summer camp programs for kids.  The YMCA sponsors the Recreation Division Summer Nutrition Program which provides meals and snacks for youth during the summer months.

Programs are offered for youth and adults in organized athletics for 3,500 individual youth participants and 300 individual adult participants. About 75,000 people have enjoyed recreational activities such as square dancing, bridge, tumbling, table tennis, and arts and crafts at our 6 recreation centers. Aquatics programs and activities accommodate approximately 25,000 participants at 3 swimming pools.

The division offers a wide variety of recreational and leisure programs for our Gainesville community. Please explore our website to find a program or service that is right for you!
