Ironwood Golf Course
Golf is offered at Ironwood Golf Course, an 18-hole, par 72, championship course owned by the City of Gainesville and operated by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Ironwood Golf Course has an outstanding layout sculptured around century-old pines and shimmering lakes. The contoured fairways and strategically placed bunkers offer every level of golfer a tremendous opportunity to test their skills.
Increased rounds of golf played by 2,000 players, due to the continued improvement of the course, funded through a $2 Capital Improvement Fee on each paid round of golf.
Continued to serve as the home course for several high school golf teams, and once again hosted the Golf Channel "Drive, Chip and Putt" competition for boys and girls ages 7-14.
Ironwood continues to introduce golf to local children through the PGA "First Swing" program. They continue to donate hundreds of golf clubs a year to local schools that teach golf as part of their P.E. program.
Over 3,000 hours of community service were completed by individuals in the Alachua County Court Services program, providing over 3,000 hours of labor in the janitorial and debris pickup on the 134 acre golf course.
