Gainesville 101: Citizens' Academy

Learn how Gainesville became the #1 ranked city in North America at Gainesville 101, the City of Gainesville's Citizens' Academy - where you meet your local government in person.

Go behind the scenes at Gainesville 's Police Department, Fire Rescue Department and Gainesville Regional Utilities. Learn the structure of city government at City Hall and more. You already live in the best city in America , now you can learn how it works, and make it even better!

These free classes begin Friday, March 28 and will be held every Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at various City locations through May 2. Classes will be limited to 40 citizens and registrations will be taken on a first-come basis. If space is unavailable you will be placed on a waiting list for the next session.
