Among the many important aspects of the Risk Reduction Bureau is Municipal Fire Inspections.  A Fire Safety Inspection program is vital to our community. The Fire Safety Inspector evaluates a building or structure and determines what measures are necessary for a building or structure to meet a reasonable level of life safety.

The Gainesville Fire Rescue Department must deliver an adequate fire safety inspection program to improve the quality of life. This department is committed to running an efficient and effective program for improving the fire safety environment.

Led by Deputy Chief Timothy Hayes, the Risk Reduction Bureau conducts numerous fire inspections and related tasks with a staff of Inspectors including Kelly DeRasmo, Steve Hesson and Keith Collingwood.  The Fire Inspectors also provide assistance and support to the Investigative Services Officer Sandy Ellison during fire investigations.
