Gainesville Fire Rescue maintains a strong and proactive relationship with the media through the Office of Public Information. GFR's PIO responds 24-hours a day, seven days a week to significant events and serves as the liaison between the Incident Commander and the media outlets to provide timely and accurate information to the community.

In addition, the PIO works with the Office of Public Education to get the word out on important information, seasonal safety tips and Department special events. The PIO is also responsible for publishing the Department's Annual Report as well as keeping the personnel informed of ongoing events and programs in the Department.
