2017 Gainesville Dash & Splash Summer Series

It’s time to be challenged! Come participate in four races to keep fit and have fun this summer! This year we are mixing it up with different race formats and new locations.

Race-day Registration opens 7:00am.

Race starts at 8:00am. Please be advised if maximum capacity is reached the race will be split into two waves. Second wave will follow 30 minutes after the first.

Ages: 13 Years and Older.Younger children who are currently on a competitive swim team may enter with permission. Please contact 352-393-8751.

City Resident: $18.25*, Non-City Resident: $24.25
On-site Registration Fee
City Resident: $24.25*, Non-City Resident: $36.25
Proof of residency (GRU Bill or Voter ID card) is required at time of registration. 

Register Early! Save $ by signing up at least two days before the race! Don’t wait–Sprint to enter! 
Online registration closes the Thursday before each race. Special T-shirt for each race! Available for those who register by the Thursday before each race.

Start Location: Depot Park, 200 SE Depot Avenue
Format: 1.5 mile run, 300y swim at Mickle Pool, 1.5 mile run

Date: July 29

Start Location: H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool,
1001 NW 31st Drive 
Format: 5k run with some trail running, 400m swim

Costume Contest & Pool Party 

It’s Dog-Gone Fun! Bring your four-legged pal and make a splash! There are plenty of activities for dog lovers of all ages.

Date & Time: Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:30 am – 1:00 pm

Location: H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool, 1001 NW 31st Drive

Admission: $5 per Dog. People are free. Proof of rabies vaccinations required for entry.

Lifeguards will be on duty. Canine life vests suggested for additional safety.

Please note that due to Health Department regulations, people will not be allowed to enter or swim in the pool with their dogs. The pool will be thoroughly cleaned before it reopens. Lifeguards will be on duty; however, canine life-jackets are encouraged for additional safety.

The nation's top water safety and training organizations are joining forces to present The World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL), to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning.

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and state wide water safety and drowning prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.

FREE Family Fun Nights

On Thursday and Friday nights Andrew R. Mickle Sr. Pool offers extended hours for family swim time! From 5 to 7 pm, admission to the pool is FREE as we encourage families to come out and enjoy time together at the pool.
