Aquatic Leadership Camp

Splash into Fun and Safety!

The purpose of the City of Gainesville’s Lifeguard Program is to increase self-confidence and promote safe behavior in the aquatic environment. Throughout the course campers will learn a wide range of skills including first-aid, CPR and rescue techniques. The program will encourage campers to take on leadership roles as well as challenge them mentally and physically. Besides learning the primary responsibilities of a lifeguard this course is action packed with fun activities, games and free swim! 

Fees:  City Residents:  $87.00 / Non-City Residents: $ 130.50. 
Proof of residency (GRU Bill or Voter ID card) is required at time of registration.

Times: 8:30am–5:30pm

Prerequisites:

Campers attending the Aquatics Ambassador Program must be able to swim and complete the following tasks BEFORE the first day of camp!

  • 100 yard swim
  • 1 minute unaided float
  • Retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 8- 10 feet of water

All campers are required to bring their own lunch, snacks, goggles, sunscreen, tennis shoes, socks, towel and swimsuit.

Denim shorts or cut-offs are not allowed to be worn in the water. Due to the nature of the camp, it is required that all female participants wear a one-piece swimsuit.

Campers will have the opportunity to earn certification in CPR/First Aid but not in Lifeguarding or AED. Campers will receive a certificate of completion.
