The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) is pleased to offer a free basketball clinic with the coaching staff from the Eastside High School Basketball team at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose (MLK) Center. The clinics are open to everyone, and are a great opportunity for those wishing to participate in PRCA’s Youth Coed Basketball league and hone their skills.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department has some great events to get kids ready to join Youth Coed Basketball! During the first week of December, the Eastside High School Basketball team will be providing a skills clinic and Free Throw Contest will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose (MLK) Center.

The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs is getting geared up for another season of great games for Youth Coed Basketball. Through fitness, fair play and sportsmanship, the program teaches youth, ages 5–14, how character counts on and off the court. There are no try outs, and each participant gets to play.

It was down to the wire, but the residents of Gainesville made it to the net, scoring big for Summer Heatwave! The crowdfunding goal of $20,336 has been met and more, with more than $24,000 raised!

To celebrate a great year in basketball, the City of Gainesville is asking citizens to donate $4, $40 or $400 to support a summer basketball program for Gainesville youth.

This morning, the City of Gainesville launched its first crowdfunding campaign to raise $20,800 to expand the popular Summer Heatwave program, which provides a place for Gainesville youth to go during evening hours with activities ranging from structured team sports, a life skills class and open lounges to socialize and play games. Citizens can make tax-deductible donations to the project at http://www.citizinvestor.com/project/summer-heatwave-. Community investors’ credit cards will not be charged unless the project reaches 100 percent of its funding goal before the May 24 deadline.
