Enrich your Thanksgiving holiday with merriment among the piney woods of Morningside Nature Center at the annual Cane Boil & FiddleFest! The festival is presented at no charge by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Friends of Nature Parks Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) is pleased to offer a free basketball clinic with the coaching staff from the Eastside High School Basketball team at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose (MLK) Center. The clinics are open to everyone, and are a great opportunity for those wishing to participate in PRCA’s Youth Coed Basketball league and hone their skills.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and 352arts is pleased to announce Gainesville’s first 3-D mural, created by local multidisciplinary artist Daniel Vélez-Climent. This weekend on Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12, Vélez-Climent will paint the mural titled "Shackles," at 200 NE First St., while the Downtown Festival & Art Show is occurring nearby.

The Living History Farm at Morningside Nature Center (3540 E University Ave.) will be closed Tuesday, November 7, 2017 for fencing construction.   We apologize for the inconvenience.  The farm will resume normal hours on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

The A. Quinn Jones Museum & Cultural Center was selected to receive the Florida Redevelopment Association’s (FRA) Roy F. Kenzie award for Cultural Enhancement. Each year, the FRA recognizes outstanding efforts by redevelopment agencies throughout the state.
