The 33rd Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show is proud to present this year’s poster artist, Kana Handel. The poster, “‘Round Midnight on the Prairie," showcases this local artist’s passion for storytelling, her love of nature and her admiration for her adopted hometown.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is looking for long-term volunteers to help support the Living History Days program at Morningside Nature Center. Volunteers will interpret life on a Florida farm in the year 1870. Living History Days are part of the public programming offered annually from September through May. H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool was closed at 2:00 pm today, July 2, 2014, for due to fecal contamination and will remain closed while the water is treated by super-chlorination to remove any bacteria. We plan to re-open the pool tomorrow at 6:00 am for regular hours. Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) and Andrew R. Mickle Sr. Pool will remain open for their regular hours today. We apologize for any inconvenience to our patrons.

Please note: the tennis courts at Cofrin Nature Park and TB McPherson will be closed for resurfacing starting Monday, July 14, 2014.
