Plant a New Earth Day Tradition with the 2016 Spring Native Plant Sale
Celebrate Earth Day by learning about the variety of Florida-friendly plants available for your landscape and garden. Native plants are adapted to variable weather conditions, and they are easy to maintain. Take advantage of the largest offering of native plants in north Florida during the 2016 Spring Native Plant Sale at Morningside Nature Center Saturday, April 23 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. An exclusive member’s sale is Friday, April 22, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and is open to members of the Friends of Nature Parks and Florida Native Plant Society. Memberships are available at the gate. Cash, checks and credit/debit cards are accepted at the sale.
The Spring Native Plant Sale is hosted cooperatively by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA), the Friends of Nature Parks and Paynes Prairie chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society.
This family-friendly event features:
- Thousands of beautiful native shrubs, trees, wildflowers, ferns, grasses and vines grown at area nurseries, native plants are for sale at a variety of prices and offering a fantastic variety of colors and textures
- Free expert plant advice at the Florida Native Plant Society booth
- Free Park-a-Plant service allows you to shop hands-free while we tag, store and help load your plants
- Free naturalist-led wildflower walk at 11:30 a.m.

Proceeds from the sale benefit environmental and cultural history programs offered by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.
