New for Spring 2016: Adult Volleyball and Basketball League


The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) is excited to announce new adult sports programs! You can register now for 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 Basketball, plus competitive and recreational volleyball leagues. If you are age 18 years or older, this is a fantastic way to enjoy comradery and fitness with friends and colleagues!

All the great sports action will be happening at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multipurpose (MLK) Center, located at 1028 NE 14th St. All leagues are coed, but there is no required ratio of men or women for teams. There are mandatory meetings for team captains prior to the season opening; please check the website for details on specific dates.

Have a big group that’s ready for the court? 5-on-5 Adult Basketball will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, starting March 8. The registration fee, which includes jerseys, is $300 per team. Don’t pass this by, because registration ends March 3. The season lasts nine weeks.

If you only have a few friends that love fierce competition, then the 3-on-3 Adult Basketball is perfect for your team. Games start March 14, and will be played on Monday evenings for an eight-week season. Registration ends March 10, with a fee of $200 per team, which includes team jerseys.

Want to step up to the net? Adult Volleyball offers both competitive and recreational leagues for a fun eight-week season, starting March 9. Matches will be played on Wednesday evenings. Be sure to register by March 7; the fee is $150 per team.
