Take the Fitness Challenge with Biathlons and Triton Fitness Gainesville
Do you need new goals to motivate your fitness or want variety in your workouts? The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department offers the 2014 Gainesville Biathlon Challenge and Triton Fitness Gainesville to get you in shape!
The next 2014 Gainesville Biathlon Challenge will take place Saturday, May 24 at H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool, which is located at 1001 NW 31st Dr. The challenge is a series of eight races consists of a 5K run and 800-meter swim and continues until October. Athletes can take part in seven more races, alternating between Westside Pool and Dwight H. Hunter (Northeast) Pool, which is located at 1100 NE 14th St. Remaining race dates and locations are:
- May 24 at Westside Pool
- June 14 at Westside Pool
- June 28 at Northeast Pool
- July 26 at Westside Pool
- Aug. 9 at Northeast Pool
- Sept. 13 at Westside
- Oct. 11 at Northeast Pool
Register early and save money by signing up more than two days before the race - the first 25 to register for each race will also receive some super-sweet race swag. Don’t wait - sprint to enter! The entry fee for each race is only $17.25 for city residents and $23 for non-residents, when signing up more than two days before the race. After that time, the fees are $23 for city residents and $34.50 for non-residents. The winning female and male athletes of each race will receive two free pool passes to use at any city pool. If you need to train for the Biathlon Challenge, Triton Fitness Gainesville will have you ready in no time! This high-intensity program is a blend of land and aquatic cross training. This program incorporates competition and camaraderie to develop an environment where everyone will experience new mental and physical challenges. Classes are $5 each or six for $25. Triton Fitness is for ages 15 years and older.
