12/12/2017

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, in cooperation with Shake Rag Cultural Center, Inc., is pleased to once again welcome The Currys to the next Jewel Box Concert at the Thomas Center on Tuesday, Dec. 19.  The Currys’ show will feature a unique mix of originals, along with special renditions holiday favorites.  Doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. General admission is $20, and VIP seating is $30 at the door. Seating is limited. and tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.evansmediasource.com.
“We are highly recommending that you purchase tickets in advance to ensure a seat as this show always sells out," says Ernie Evans, vice president of Shakerag Cultural Center, Inc.
Brought together by family ties and a shared appreciation for folk, rock, and roots music, The Currys are an Americana trio featuring brothers Jimmy and Tommy and cousin Galen Curry. Like many family groups, their songs are anchored by the sort of elastic, entwined harmonies that only seem to exist among kin. Of the group’s performances, award-winning country artist Billy Dean says, "The Currys know how to ignite an audience. Close family harmony combined with energetic delivery, these boys will have the crowd on their feet and in the palm of their hands.”
Samples of the The Currys music can be heard online at https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCurrysMusic. A photograph of The Currys can be viewed at https://www.flickr.com/photos/gainesville/38990766811.
Dinner will be available for purchase on site by Radha's Kitchen featuring vegetarian cuisine, desserts, coffee, bottled water and beverages. Customers may bring their favorite wine or champagne, and an attendant will tend their bottle. Plastic cups will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own glass.
The Jewel Box Concerts at the Thomas Center will continue its concert series kicking off the 2018 season with Rodney Dillard with The Walker Brothers Thursday, Jan. 4.  More information can be found at www.evansmediasource.com.
