Old Florida Seed and Story Swap at Morningside Nature Center

Join us at Morningside Nature Center’s Living History Farm for the Fall Old Florida Seed and Story Swap Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., presented by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, in partnership with Forage Farm. Help us preserve our precious agricultural heritage and diversify your own garden by bringing your seeds to swap with others in our gardening community. No live plants, seeds older than five years or seeds from invasive exotics, please! No seeds to swap? No problem!  Come on down and join us for an old-fashioned storytelling session; swap your garden and farm tales with fellow gardeners.

When you’re done swapping, step back in time and experience Florida as it was. Living History interpreters will demonstrate life on an 1870 Florida farm, when the rooster’s crow and the rising sun, not an alarm clock, welcomed a new day.  Enjoy old timey music and a day out in nature.
