Get Ready for Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading

5/14/2014

Score more fun and fitness with Pop Warner Football or Cheerleading! The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department provides a great opportunity to be active and learn with Pop Warner sports. We teach our youth that character counts! We teach fairness, caring, citizenship, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness, while focusing on academic achievement.

Participants (age 5-15) in football compete against peers of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the only youth football program that sets and enforces a strict age and weight matrix to help reduce the chance of injury. Pop Warner programs have no tryouts or cutting of players from team rosters.

A new division has been added this year for both cheerleading and football: Unlimited. The division is for 11-14 year olds, weighing 105 pounds or more in football, with no weight requirements for cheerleading.

Our cheerleading program teaches skill and discipline to children age 5-15. All participants that meet Pop Warner’s scholastic requirements are accepted. Football and cheerleading participants that excel in the classroom may be eligible for Scholastic All-American recognition. Cheerleaders will compete at the league level, and, if their squad advances, they will compete at the regional and national level. In 2013, our Gainesville Gator Junior Midget cheer squad took first place at regionals and fifth at nationals!

Sign up for Pop Warner Football or Pop Warner Cheerleading by Monday, June 30 to save $10 off the registration.
