Boardwalk at Loblolly Woods Nature Park Closed for Repairs - CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Nov. 11, 2014

UPDATE: The contractor for the repair of the Loblolly Woods boardwalk has been hired and construction has begun. The repairs are expected to be completed by Spring, 2015. We thank our patrons for their patience.

The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department has closed the boardwalk at Loblloly Woods Nature Park due to safety concerns and to prepare for necessary repairs. The boardwalk extends from Northwest Eighth Avenue to Northwest 16th Avenue, and all public entrances to the boardwalk will be barricaded. Repairs will take several months to complete.

For those who frequent the Hogtown Creek Greenway trail system that Loblolly is part of, there are two suggested detours. From the Northwest Eighth Avenue entrance, patrons may continue east along the sidewalk and use the Mason Manor boardwalk that connects to Northwest 25th Terrace and continues to Northwest 16th Avenue. Alternatively, Northwest 31st Drive can also be used to connect to Northwest 16th Avenue. Temporary guidance signs will be posted along the detour. The department regrets any inconvenience this closure may cause.
