Thomas Center Galleries Hosts the Showcasing Student Art - Elementary Schools Exhibition
The Thomas Center Galleries announces the opening of the Showcasing Student Art - Elementary Schools Exhibition presented by the Alachua County Public Schools Visual Arts Program, which is scheduled to run Saturday, April 5-Saturday, May 3 in the Thomas Center Mezzanine Gallery. The exhibition includes 88 works of art that were created during the 2013-2014 school year in Alachua County elementary schools by students who were selected by 29 teachers from 26 participating schools.
The School Board of Alachua County’s Visual Arts Showcasing Program is designed to share the excellence of student art with the community.
“The young students’ artwork in this exhibition is so charming and just exudes talent,” says Russell Etling, interim cultural affairs manager for the city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department. “We are honored to showcase these pieces and celebrate our school system’s exemplary Visual Arts Program.”

The exhibition is presented with the assistance of the Thomas Center Associates, Central Florida Office Plus, Picture This!, Planned Furnishings, Inc. and Jim Wilson Wildlife Drawings.

The Thomas Center Galleries are located at 302 NE Sixth Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 1-4 p.m. The galleries are closed for observed holidays.
