Jewel Box Concert Features The Legendary JC's at the Thelma Boltin Center

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, in cooperation with Shakerag Culture Center, Inc., is pleased to announce the upcoming Jewel Box Concert featuring the soul and R&B musical stylings of The Legendary JC's. The concert is Saturday, June 4 at the Thelma Bolton Center, which is located at 516 NE Second Ave. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online before the event for $25 per couple or $15 per single ticket (credit cards only) at, or are $15 per person at the door the day of the show (cash or check only).

The Legendary JC's truly bring that classic old school soul and R&B sound and feeling back around. Not only does the band pay respect to their influences through their gold-standard original tunes, they have also performed with some including James Brown, B.B. King, Dr. John and Al Green.

The Legendary JC's have also opened for artists, such as Tab Benoit, Topaz, Robert Randolph, The Black Keys, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Sam Rivers, Cowboy Mouth, J.J. Grey & Mofro, Stanton Moore, The Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walters, Galactic, Blues Traveler and even Bad Company.

The evening is being presented as an “Old School Soul and R&B Dance Party,” and the audience is invited to come to dance or just enjoy the incredible show that The JC's put on. Instead of the Jewel Box Concerts’ traditional venue at the Historic Thomas Center, this event is being held at the Thelma A. Boltin Center located at 516 NE Second Ave. in Gainesville. This historic venue is regularly used as a dance hall, and promises to be a good fit for this concert.
