This week, phase two of the 352Walls public art project kicks off with the creation of a large-scale mural by the famous duo of artists, Interesni Kazki, who hail from the Ukraine. It will be located on the side of the Market Street Pub building at Southwest First Avenue and Southwest First Street. The artists are expected paint outside for at least 10 days, starting Wednesday, Jan. 13. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this rare opportunity, visit the site and witness the live creation of the latest 352wall and the masterful work process of this world-renowned duo in the urban art scene.
Interesni Kazki is made up of Aleksei Bordusov and Vladimir Manzhos, who also go by their respective aliases AEC and WAONE. This team helped initiate the urban art movement in eastern Europe, and have gone on to paint their fantastical images around the world including works in Italy, Australia, France, Mexico as well as in Los Angeles, New York and Wynwood Walls in Miami. The name Interesni Kazki translates to interesting fairytale or story, and their whimsical images incorporate themes of science, religion, cosmology and social subjects transporting the viewer to through a unique universe of symbolic, complex and dreamlike compositions. "Every single piece... contains a secret to decipher," mentions Bordusov.
This fall, downtown Gainesville was transformed by the 352walls/ Gainesville Urban Art Initiative through the work of nine renowned international muralists and 13 of region’s best artists. These artists adorned select building walls throughout historic downtown in a public street art display never before seen in north central Florida.

352walls/The Gainesville Urban Art Project is a groundbreaking tourism development initiative for the area coordinated by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department (PRCA) and sponsored by the VisitGainesville Tourism Development Office, the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the Gainesville-Alachua County Art in Public Places Trust and the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Council on Arts and Culture. This international urban art project promises to position Gainesville as a cultural destination in future years, foster economic development and promote urban renewal, all of which are also goals of the City of Gainesville and Alachua County’s new 352ArtsRoadmap cultural master plan. This massive, transformative project was conceived and is curated by Iryna Kanishcheva.
This type of mural project is a trend in the United States and internationally; however, events of this magnitude are typically found in larger metropolitan areas such as Seattle, Denver, Detroit or Miami. This is a first for Gainesville and north central Florida.
