Be a Top Dog and Support the Drool & Ghoul Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest!

9/29/2015

Join the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department to make the Drool and Ghoul Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest and Pool Party totally paw-some! This annual event takes place Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and is open to well-behaved dogs at the H. Spurgeon Cherry (Westside) Pool, which is located at 1001 NW 31st Dr. The pool and splash pad will be open to dogs, and there will be a costume contest, free dog baths, photos with pet(s), great local pet-business vendors and other fun activities! Admission to the event is $5. Proof of immunizations is required.

Local pet businesses are encouraged to participate. If your business or organization makes tails wag, this is a great chance to feature your products and services at tables set up around the pool. Those participating in the event will have their logo displayed on the front entrance marquee and promoted on social media prior to the event. Proceeds from event benefit the Alachua County Humane Society and other local animal organizations.

Volunteers are also a vital part of making the event great. It’s a perfect chance for any dog lover to help out! Help is needed with setup, dog monitoring, cleaning the pool deck, dog baths, filling water dishes and more! All volunteers will receive a free pool day pass.
