Florida DMS mobile testing bus to provide temporary walk-up COVID-19 testing in Gainesville this week


The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) mobile testing bus will be stationed temporarily this week at the City of Gainesville’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Multipurpose Center for walk-up COVID-19 testing.

When: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3 through Saturday, Sept. 5
Where: Martin Luther King, Jr. Multipurpose Center at 1028 NE 14th Street
Who: Individuals wishing to be tested must be 18 or older and present a valid ID including the Alachua County Community ID card. Children may be tested when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

No doctor’s note is needed. DMS medical staff will provide 200 free coronavirus tests per day and will administer the nasal tests on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals will be called or emailed by DMS staff within two days with results, and the Alachua County Health Department will provide follow-up case management for those who test positive.

Free coronavirus testing also is available Wednesdays and Fridays by appointment at the former headquarters of the city’s Regional Transit System. Call the Alachua County Health Department at 352-334-8810 to schedule an appointment.

The scheduled testing supports the East Gainesville COVID-19 Testing, Education and Relief Initiative (EGCTERI) which provides residents of East Gainesville with access to coronavirus testing, personal protective equipment and educational information in the fight against coronavirus.
