“Free Fridays” Concert Series Presents Ricky Kendall and the Healers Friday, July 25
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department features Ricky Kendall and the Healers Friday, July 25 for their first appearance at “Free Fridays.”
Ricky Kendall and the Healers formed in early 2012 out of a necessity to perform for a CD release of Kendall’s album "Soul Searching." They ended up working well together, and gaining notoriety as a band. Michael Claytor was added as a banjo player and Sam Moss as background vocalist. The two both drive different parts of the music as Claytor is also an accomplished songwriter and Moss is a vocal powerhouse. Kendall and Claytor’s songs range from gunfighter ballads to spiritual songs of awakening and sometimes just good old fashioned love songs. The mix of country, folk, R&B and soul lends itself to many different moods and subject matter that comes from the heart.
The musicians include Ricky Kendall (guitar/vocals), Michael Claytor (banjo/vocals), Sam Moss (vocals), Jared Groom (drums), Jon Alexander (pedal steel), Ryan Baker (keyboards) and Ashley Wilkinson (bass).
The 2014 “Free Fridays” concert series is produced by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.
