New Fleet Management Director Selected
City Manager Anthony Lyons is pleased to announce the selection of Douglas Weichman as the new fleet management director for the City of Gainesville. Weichman will assume his new duties Monday, Feb. 27.
“Mr. Weichman is a Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) who has written the book on fleet management during a distinguished 26-year career, while rising through the ranks to direct the Palm Beach County, Fla. Fleet Management Division,” stated Gainesville City Manager Lyons. “We are fortunate to be able to attract this high caliber talent who will help our city to become a pre-eminent new American city.”
Weichman is the immediate past president of NAFA Fleet Management Assocation, serving as its 32nd president. NAFA is the world’s premier not-for-profit association for professionals who manage fleets of sedans, law enforcement vehicles, trucks and buses of all types and sizes, and a wide range of military and off-road equipment for organizations across the globe.
NAFA selected Weichman’s fleet as its Vocation Fleet of the Year, and has honored him as Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year. He is a recipient of NAFA’s FLEXY Award For Member of the Year, and he has published numerous articles and teaches various fleet seminars. Weichman has also been recognized by his peers by his induction into the Public Fleet Hall of Fame.
