Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Local Housing Assistance Plan Public Meetings

11/14/2016

The City of Gainesville receives State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program funds from the State’s Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC). The purpose of the funding is to provide affordable housing assistance to Gainesville households earning extremely low-, very low-, low- and moderate-incomes. Alachua County also receives SHIP Program funds for the same purposes.

To receive public input, the City of Gainesville and Alachua County are holding two joint public meetings to discuss their proposed three-year SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plans (LHAP). The LHAP will govern the SHIP Programs’ affordable housing activities during the July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020 time period. When complete, the SHIP LHAP will summarize affordable housing priorities, planned activities and funding levels anticipated for implementation during the three-year period, subject to actual allocation as approved by the Florida Legislature. The times and locations of the meetings are:

Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
Community Support Services, Thomas Coward Auditorium
218 SE 24th St.

Monday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.
Thomas Center, Long Gallery
302 NE Sixth Ave.

Citizens may also submit written comments about the LHAP to the City of Gainesville and the FHFC. Written comments should identify the author by name, address and affiliation or interest affected. Mail or email written comments to the City of Gainesville and/or the FHFC at:
