To develop a viable urban community by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

Housing rehabilitation, code enforcement, relocation assistance, new housing development, homeless assistance, food commodities, youth programs, elderly services, accessibility improvements for the disabled, small business loans, and self-sufficiency programs are some of those funded through the CDBG and HOME grants in Gainesville since 1975.

How are the activities or projects selected?

New projects are selected annually through a local application and citizen review process.
