The Solid Waste Division’s Residential and Commercial Public Outreach consists of:
• Educational Display Booths and Public Speaking
Display booths are set up at events such as the Chamber Business Showcase and also public speaking engagements for various organizations.
• Great American Clean-up
The Great American Cleanup Event takes place every year between the months of March, April & May. The Great American Cleanup is a combined effort through Keep Alachua County Beautiful, City of Gainesville, Alachua County and many other organizations. • Phase II Neighborhood Cleanups
This program is in partnership with Keep Alachua County Beautiful. The Solid Waste Division provides the dumpsters, bags, pick-up sticks and gloves for this type of clean-up. For further information on how to apply for a Phase II Neighborhood Clean-up, call KACB, (352) 371-9444.
• Neighborhood Crime Watch Meetings or other organizational meetings
The Solid Waste Manager, Inspectors or Recycling Coordinator will speak on solid waste or recycling issues and answer any questions the neighborhood or other organizations may have on the subject.
• Public Service Announcements, Newspaper, Radio and TV ads
PSA’s are announced through the newspaper, TV and radio ads. Recycling and solid waste commercials are run periodically through the year on local radio and TV channels. Tune in to the City of Gainesville’s TV Channel 12 for the latest Solid Waste information.
