Welcome to the Public Works Department Home Page. The city's vision is to set the standard of excellence for a top ten mid-sized American city recognized nationally as an innovative provider of high-quality cost effective services. Toward this goal, Public Works achieved national accreditation from the American Public Works Association in December 2007 with several individual practices and two chapters, the Emergency Management and Organization and Strategic Planning Chapters, receiving Best Management Practices designations.
Teresa Scott, P.E., provides leadership to and serves as the Director of Public Works. Several award winning programs are provided by the department, including the Clean Water Parternership, which is jointly funded by the City of Gainesville, Alachua County and the Florida Department of Transportation.
