Earth Academy Day Camp (Spring and Summer) and Junior Naturalist Programs
|
|
Summer Fun for Everybody!
Three different themes throughout the summer will stimulate young minds, five sessions: Registration begins April 9th and closes one week prior to each session.
Kids will have a chance to explore Gainesville's natural systems as an inspiration for art, including painting, sculpting, music, poetry, photography, and more. Earth Academy Day Camp, held at Morningside Nature Center’s 278-acre nature sanctuary, uses hands on fun to focus on natural and cultural history; for children in first through sixth grades. Instructors are career educators and science professionals experienced in working with children. In addition to a variety of theme-based, multidisciplinary projects campers will have fun with character development activities demonstrating trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Camp is offered Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Early drop off and late pick up services are available.

Junior Naturalist Program Application Form
Earth Academy Day Camp also provides fun volunteer opportunities for middle and high school students who are entering seventh to 12th grades with the City of Gainesville’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Junior Naturalist (JN) Program.
There is limited space in the JN program. Junior Naturalists accepted into the program will volunteer with the Earth Academy Summer Day Camp and help prepare for and assist staff in leading activities, games, and crafts. Acceptance into the JN program will qualify students for service hours they may need in order to fulfill academic, community or other requirements. Youth will develop leadership skills and gain knowledge about Gainesville’s natural communities and cultural history through the Junior Naturalist Program.
