Gainesville Fire Rescue has been saving lives and property since 1882. The department's 132 firefighters and 15 emergency vehicles respond to over 15,000 calls a year including building fires, brush fires, vehicle crashes, emergency medical services, hazardous materials incidents, aircraft rescues and natural disasters. Fire Assessment Information: On July 15th, 2010 the City Commission approved a fire assessment. Information was sent in June 2010 in a first class notice and is not on the TRIM notices; however, it will be included in the tax bills sent to property owners in November 2010. Low-income or senior citizen property owners interested in applying for the hardship program should call 352-334-5088 and leave your name and phone number.
Fire Assessment Credits: Property owners with fully protected, inspected sprinkler systems may submit fire flow mitigation credit applications for 2011 by June 1, 2011. Property owners of mobile home or RV parks with vacant spaces may submit their applications for 2011 by June 1, 2011.
