Fire Flow Mitigation Credit Application Due August 16
On July 15, 2010, the Gainesville City Commission approved a special assessment for fire services. Property tax notices with the assessment will be mailed by the Alachua County Property Appraiser's Office on November 1. Fire Flow Mitigation Credit applications for sprinkler system coverage are due on August 16.

Residential Parking Permits and Decals Available for Purchase Online Beginning August 2

Residential neighborhood parking decals/permits will be available for purchase online beginning Monday, August 2, 2010. Residents in the Controlled Vehicular Parking Zones will be able to purchase decals/permits online at www.cityofgainesville.org by clicking on the “e-Services” link.

Velveeta Underground to Perform at Free Fridays on August 6
The band Velveeta Underground plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk and chamber rock. It is comprised of two long-time, local residents and musicians that got together and formed the group in 2006. The duo has since been playing regularly at some of the area’s most popular music venues.

The 29th Annual Downtown Festival & Art Show is proud to present this year’s poster artist, Hugo Cruz. The featured artwork, “The Clock Tower,” showcases his use of infrared photography to reveal new perspectives of the familiar world around us.

Next Ironwood Tour on August 25

The City of Gainesville Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs began conducting monthly “walking tours” with golf course architect Mike Beebe in April 2010. These tours are the only opportunities to view the construction during the renovation process, and allow the public to get a first hand description of what is being done to the course. Each tour allows the public to ask questions in an informal setting to help them understand how tees and greens are built.
