Advisory Board and Committee Openings

The Gainesville City Commission is pleased to receive applications for consideration to the following boards/committees. Applications from previous application cycles will not be considered; all applicants must submit an application during the current cycle. Applications may be picked up and submitted in person or online.

School Board Planning Advisory Council - city residency required (2 openings)

Applications must be received in the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 (11:59 p.m. if applying online).

The Gainesville City Commission is looking for applicants interested in serving as community members on the School Planning Advisory Committee (“SPAC”). The SPAC is established by the Alachua County Public Schools in accordance with the Interlocal Agreement for Public School Facility Planning. The purpose of the committee according the interlocal agreement is to review potential sites for new schools, proposals for significant school expansions and potential closure of existing schools. The committee will submit recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools. The committee is a standing committee that meets on an as needed basis, typically Friday mornings from 9-11 a.m. at the School Board’s Headquarters (620 E. University Ave.). Information about the committee may be viewed on the school board’s website. Applications must include a resume and a letter of interest.

City Residency Required

Applications must be received in the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 (11:59 p.m. if applying online).

  • Historic Preservation Board (5 full terms ending June 1, 2023)
  • Regional Transit System Citizen Advisory Board (1 partial term ending Sept. 30, 2022)

City Residency Not Required

Applications must be received in the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 (11:59 p.m. if applying online).

  • Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Community Development (1 partial term ending Nov. 1, 2022)
  • Fire Safety Board of Adjustment (1 full term ending Nov. 1, 2022)
  • Gainesville Cultural Affairs Board (1 partial term ending Sept. 30, 2022)
